A Ticket to Tomorrow
We went with a travel theme seeing as how hospitality is worldwide and the guests of our event can relate to the feeling of a desire to travel, learn, and explore.
Each element of the event incorporated the travel theme. “A Ticket to Tomorrow” was incorporated into the website, our marketing videos, pre-registration flyers, posters, the decorations used at the event as well as the agenda used for registered guests on the day of the event.

Schedule and Breakout Sessions:
We made the schedule into a folded brochure, with our logo on the front, listing each breakout session with the speaker and title of the session. Each break out session was listed as a different destination according to the room. For example, room Gallery Overlook A was called “Sydney” and the student from the video Sydney was found in that room to introduce the speaker and answer any questions for students, because they could be recognized from our marketing material and connected to that destination.

Pre-Registration Reminders:
We made seven short videos, formed into two clips that were shown to the students through the HTM PowerPoint announcements before class. Each of the videos featured a different character from a different area of the world and at the ends asked, “Where will you be tomorrow?” Our event information was shown at the end of the clip. We also had students who were planning the event go into selected HTM classes to explain our event, show the students our website, and pass out flyers for our event. The flyers had a picture of each character from the video with our event information on it and the link to our website.

Entrance Area:
We used three vintage suitcases and old maps to decorate and creatively placed them by the registration area so guests were immediately aware of the travel theme when they arrived. Along with this we put together a directional road sign as a prop near the registration table, pointing in different directions with different cities from around the world printed on it. This was made using foam board and a stable wood base.
